The method

Four questions,
asked in order.

A meal plan is not a list of healthy foods. It is a judgement about which qualities you need more of and which you have too much of already — and that judgement changes with the season, the hour and the state of your digestion.

  1. Constitution

    Start from prakriti

What you are made of, not how you feel this morning. Constitution sets the baseline the planner works against — a kapha body and a vata body eating the same meal get different results from it.

  2. Season

    Then adjust for ritucharya

Each season accumulates one quality and provokes another. Late winter builds kapha; autumn dries and disturbs vata. A meal that balanced you in June can aggravate you in October, unchanged.

  3. Hour

Then place it in the day

The doshas cycle twice through every twenty-four hours. The planner puts the heaviest meal in the pitta window, when digestion can actually meet it, and keeps the evening light.

  4. Fire

    Then check agni

None of the above matters if the fire is low. When digestion is weak the answer is less food and more warmth, not a better recipe — so the plan reduces rather than substitutes.

Shad rasa

Six tastes, not four food groups

Ayurveda classifies food by what it does rather than what it contains. A balanced meal carries all six tastes, weighted toward the ones that settle your constitution — which is why the planner reasons in tastes and only then resolves to ingredients.

Sweet

Madhura

Builds tissue, cools, grounds

Rice, milk, dates, root vegetables

Sour

Amla

Kindles appetite, warms, moistens

Lemon, yoghurt, tamarind

Salty

Lavana

Retains water, softens, warms

Rock salt, seaweed

Pungent

Katu

Heats, dries, clears channels

Ginger, chilli, black pepper

Bitter

Tikta

Cools, dries, detoxifies

Bitter gourd, turmeric, greens

Astringent

Kashaya

Contracts, dries, cools

Lentils, pomegranate, unripe banana

Where yoga meets the plate

The practice prepares the meal

Twists compress and release the abdominal organs. Forward folds cool an over-heated system. Backbends open the front line and raise the heat where it has gone sluggish. Classically these are not separate from diet — they are the preparation that decides what the diet can do.

So the app sequences them together: the practice that suits your constitution this morning, and then the meal that the practice has made you ready for.
